132-Year-Old Winchester Found at Great Basin National Park
Archaeologists recovered a 132-year Winchester rifle discovered casually leaning against a tree in the Great Basin National Park. The weathered Model 1873 Winchester can be traced back by serial number to the Cody Firearms Museum in Wyoming, but its history and owner are still a mystery. As is the reason why it was left behind. The Great Basin cultural team is digging into old newspapers and family history for answers. The gun will be put on display at the park's 30th birthday after going through conservation techniques.
