2014 Political Dates with Big Implications
2014 will hold several important dates for U.S. politics, including a critical period for the Affordable Care Act. Jan. 28 President Obama will deliver his fifth State of the Union speech; in March, the debt ceiling truce will end, which will give parties reason to squabble over raising it again; March 11th a Florida election will determine who succeeds Republican Rep. C.W. "Bill" Young, proving to be a 2014 bellwether; March 31 the Affordable Care Act enrollment will end and people who haven't signed up will face a tax penalty; in May, talks between world powers and Iran over their nuclear weapon progress will end; in June, the Supreme Court is supposed to deliver opinions on several big cases; and Nov. 4th will be the mid-term election.
