6.9-Magnitude Earthquake Rocks North California Coast
A magnitude-6.9 earthquake caused aftershocks to ripple through North California after the temblor hit in the Pacific Sunday night about 50 miles west of Eureka. The earthquake struck at a depth of4.3 miles, and the initial shock lasted around 30 seconds. There were at least 10 aftershocks reported including one of magnitude 4.6, but no damages or injuries have been reported. According to the Northern California Earthquake Data Center, there is a 90 percent chance of a magnitude-5.0 earthquake or larger hitting within the next week.
