91-Year-Old Woman Breaks Marathon Records
Finishing a San Diego marathon in 7 hours, 7 minutes and 42 seconds, Harriette Thompson, 91, broke the record for women 90 and up by two hours and 45 minutes. Thompson, who is recovering from oral cancer, also became the second-oldest woman in U.S. history to complete a marathon. It was her 15th marathon in 16 years. Thompson said she runs to support the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society since her brother died from lymphoma in February.
