After Libel Lawsuit, Conor Oberst Rape Accuser Admits she Lied for Attention
After claiming Bright Eyes frontman Conor Oberst sexually assaulted her in an XOJane article, Joanie Faircloth is now admitting she made the story up. Oberst filed a libel lawsuit against Faircloth in February, which led to her apology. Faircloth admitted she was only seeking attention and that her "actions were wrong and could undermine the claims of actual sexual assault victims." The lawsuit claimed that the only relationship between Oberst and Faircloth was one of "artist and fan."
