Alaska hit by Magnitude- 8.0 Earthquake, Triggers Small Tsunami
A magnitude-8.0 earthquake hit near Alaska's Aleutian Islands, triggering a tsunami warning, but only small waves hit the coastal communities. The National Tsunami Warning Center warned people to stay away from the beach as currents were strong. The earthquake hit about 1,400 miles southwest of Anchorage near Little Sitkin Island. Though no damage has been reported, strong quakes could be felt throughout Adak.
