Alaska Plane Crash Survivor Leads Search Party to Wreckage
Melanie Coffee, 25, called in a search party and led them over sloping tundra back to the site of the plane crash she survived. There were 10 passengers aboard when the small plane crashed in Alaska near St. Mary's. Four people, including Coffee's 5-month-old boy, died from their injuries. Coffee had to travel a half-mile over slippery tundra to find the town's landfill, where she met the search party of around 50 villagers. The National Transportation Safety Board is still looking into causes of the crash.
