Alice Herz-Sommers, the Oldest Known Holocaust Survivor, Dies at 110
Said to be the oldest Holocaust survivor, Alice-Herz-Sommer, died at 110 in London of old age on Sunday. Sommer survived two years in Terezin, a German concentration camp where 33,430 Jews were massacred, and was sustained only through her love of piano and her son. A film about Sommer, "The Lady in Number 6: Music Saved My Life," has been nominated for best short documentary at the Academy Awards, which will take place next week.
