Bob Marley's 69th Birthday
Today marks what would have been legend Bob Marley's 69th birthday and according to Mayor Rob Ford, Bob Marley Day in Toronto. The famous singer, songwriter and guitarist is world renowned for spreading Jamaican music and boosting the Rastafari movement. Marley is most known for his hits Jamming, Waiting in Vain, One Love/People Get Ready, I Shot the Sheriff, and No Woman No Cry. In July 1977, Marley was diagnosed with a type of malignant melanoma and his health began to steadily deteriorate as the cancer spread throughout his body. Marley died at age 36 at Cedars of Lebanon Hospital in Miami on May 11, 1981.
