Cal Ripken's Mother Foils Attempted Carjacking
    Trying to carjack baseball Hall of Famer Cal Ripken Jr.'s mother was not the best decision by a man on Tuesday, October 15th. Violet Ripken was in a bank parking lot when a man approached her with a handgun and tried to force her out of her car. Ripken pressed the panic button on her key ring and the suspect fled. Authorities used parking lot cameras to identify and arrest the suspect two hours later. In 2012, Ripken also dealt with a gunman when she was abducted from her Aberdeen home.
