Cantor Fitzgerald and BGC Partners Remember 9-11 with A Focus on Charity
Cantor Fitzgerald and Eurobroker lost 711 employees on September 11, 2001 inside the World Trade Center. Howard W. Lutnick, Chairman and CEO stated "Every year we support many worthwhile charities around the world, turning tragedy into a positive and uplifting day." Matching last year's fundraiser, Cantor and it's affiliate BGC Partners, Inc. raised approximately $12 million for charities. As part of the fundraiser Cantor had Celebrity guests. Some of the guests included were: Jake Gyllenhaal, Ben Stiller, Michelle Williams, Ed Burns, Steve Buscemi, Michael J. Fox, Idina Menzel, Gina Gershon, Chazz Palminteri, AnnaSophia Robb, John Slattery, Patrick Wilson, Annalynne McCord and Zosia Mamet, to name just a few. Leading athletes who joined us included New York Nets point guard Deron Williams, New York Rangers Henrik Lundqvist and Martin St. Louis, New York Yankees CC Sabathia and Carlos Beltran, New York Mets Matt Harvey, and New York sports icons Mark Messier, Mariano Rivera, Willie Randolph, Carlos Beltran, Dwight "Doc" Goodin, Olympic gold medalist winners Bode Miller and Mikaela Shiffrin and professional surfer Bethany Hamilton. Top models included Christy Turlington, Karolina Kurkova, Cameron Russell, Constance Jablonski, and Jessica Stam, as well as musicians Jon Bon Jovi and Swizz Beatz. Other TV personalities Dr. Oz and Padma Lakshmi, and news journalists Tom Keene and Richard Lui, as well as Mayor of New York City Bill de Blasio were also special guests.
