CoverGirl Continues NFL Sponsorship, Addresses Photoshopped Memes
After a Twitter user Photoshopped a bruise onto the face of a CoverGirl sponsorship of the NFL, the company has been forced to issue a statement. CoverGirl, the "official beauty sponsor of the NFL," has been running an ad campaign based on team colors, including the Baltimore Ravens. With the domestic violence scandal, critics have relentlessly tweeted edited versions of the Baltimore CoverGirl ad demanding the company withdraw its sponsorship of the NFL until Commissioner Roger Goodell resigns. CoverGirl has not suspended the campaign, saying it finds domestic violence "completely unacceptable" but that the campaign "celebrates more than 80 million female football fans."
