CVS Drops Tobacco Products
CVS announced today that its 7,600 stores would no longer sell tobacco products, which will amount to a probable $2 billion loss in sales every year. But what CVS loses in sales will be more than made up for by "reputational capital and kudos." Many think CVS made the decision for public health reasons, as it runs a network of 800 in-store health clinics. Competitors will be expected to follow suit, though how soon cannot be said. A few media outlets are asking why no one questioned the supposed health concern before.
