De Blasio Sworn in as 109th NYC Mayor
Bill de Blasio was sworn in as the 109th mayor of New York City on Wednesday morning, two minutes past the stroke of midnight. The oath of office was administered in a brief ceremony inside the front yard of the mayor's rowhouse in Park Slope, Brooklyn. The ceremony took place after Mr. de Blasio's careful campaign, which bolstered his image as "a fiery populist intent on easing the disparities of a gilded city." He is also a husband and father who has a biracial family. His own middle-class home was the same place he announced his campaign nearly a year ago.
