Elite Universities Produce Overwhelming Majority of America's Professors
A new study published by Science Advances found that just a quarter of all universities account for 71 to 86 percent of all tenure-track faculty in the U.S. and Canada in the fields of business, computer science, and history. The study reviewed 16,000 faculty members in the three fields at 242 schools and found a "profound social inequality." Elite universities are producing three times as many future professors as those even slightly less prestigious.
