FedEx Indicted for Shipping Drugs Sold by Illegal Online Pharmacies
FedEx plead not guilty after being indicted on Thursday for allegedly shipping prescription drugs for illegal online pharmacies to dealers and addicts. The Internet pharmacies either don't require prescriptions before filling orders or if they do, the prescription can be completed online without meeting a physician. The prosecution comes after a nine-year investigation involving shipments from two pharmacies in 2000 and 2010. FedEx would supposedly hold packages at pick-up stations for recipients they knew to be "aggressive" instead of delivering to their addresses. If convicted, FedEx could have to pay up to $1.6 billion in penalties.
