On Sunday, 942,247 acres of land in the Pacific Northwest were burning as 21 wildfires raged across the land. Ignited by lightening from thunderstorms that swept the region, fires swept across Oregon and Washington destroying over 150 structures. With firefighters joining from Mississippi, Illinois, New Mexico, Utah and Montana, the number of people involved in trying to contain the fires is now around 9,000. Health officials are warning residents in Washington and Idaho of air pollution from the smoke drifting eastwards.
