Former Olympian runs 800m at U.S. Nationals while 8 Months Pregnant
Five-time national champion Alysia Montano entered the 800m meet at the US Track and Field Championships in Sacramento with one goal in mind: to not get lapped by the pack; Montano was 34 weeks pregnant. The former Olympian met her goal even though her time was a full 35 seconds behind her personal record pace. Montano consulted doctors about her plans to run beforehand, and they were in full support of her training and finishing the race. Part of her motivation was to dispel any stigmas about exercising while pregnant.
