Former Olympic Swimmer Amy Van Dyken-Rouen Recovering After ATV Accident Severs her Spine
Former Olympic swimming champion Amy Van Dyken-Rouen is recovering from surgery after an ATV accident severed her spine in Scottsdale, Arizona on Friday. The six-time Olympic gold medalist reported having no feeling in her legs or toes, though she otherwise appears to be in good condition. The accident occurred when her ATV struck a curb in a restaurant parking lot and she was sent flying over a five-to-seven foot drop. Her husband found her unconscious and she was rushed to Scottsdale Healthcare Osborn Medical Center.
