Four Marines Killed in Training Accident
On Wednesday morning during a range maintenance operation, four marines were killed in an accident at Camp Pendleton, near San Diego. The marines were killed at the Zulu Impact Area inside the base. Officials are still investigating and have not yet released the identities of the dead. According to AP, human error was to blame for the accident when a marine operating a 60mm mortar tube did not follow correct procedures, resulting in the detonation of a high explosive round. It was also noted that the mortar team involved had not conducted appropriate preparatory training.
