From Music to Legislature; Clay Aiken to run for NC Congress
Clay Aiken, former "American Idol," announced he will be running for Congress in North Carolina. Aiken aims to capture the Democratic nomination for the seat of Rep. Renee Ellmer. Previously a special education teacher in Wake County, the 35-year-old decided to pursue representing N.C.'s 2nd Congressional District. Aiken is expected to face Keith Crisco of Asheboro, a former state commerce secretary, and Toni Morris of Fayetteville, a licensed professional counselor. Aiken said one of his main focuses is the importance of education.
