Germany Celebrates 25 Years Since the Fall of the Berlin Wall
Berlin celebrated the 25th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall this weekend with festivals around the city. The wall fell on Nov. 9, 1989 unifying Germany for the first time since the end of World War II. Berlin commemorated the event with the release of thousands of balloons along the 9.4-mile Brandenburg Gate, a speech from beneficiary Merkel, and a performance of Beethoven's "Ode to Joy" conducted by Daniel Barenboim.
