Google Makes $3.2 Billion Nest Deal
Google made the second largest deal in its history when it bought Nest Labs Inc, a smart thermostat and smoke alarm-maker, for $3.2 billion. Second only to its purchase of Motorola in 2012 for $12.5 billion. Nest will continue to be its own distinct brand and is expected to put out a promising line of products. The purchase gives Google access to a new market in home automation. With consumer appliances and Internet services increasingly merging, it will be interesting to see what products are offered in the future.
