Gray She Wolf Spotted by Grand Canyon This Fall Killed by Utah Hunter
The endangered gray wolf found earlier last year wandering near the Grand Canyon was killed by a hunter in Utah. The northern gray she-wolf was mistaken for a coyote and fatally shot. Dubbed Echo, the 3-year-old female wolf had traveled more than 750 miles seeking a mate across "a vast region that is entirely bereft of wolves." Wolves in the American West is practically unheard of, so Echo's journey is proof that it remains excellent habitat for the species.
