Hello Kitty Not a Cat; Celebrates 40th Anniversary in L.A.
Since first being introduced as a character on a Japanese coin purse in 1974, Hello Kitty will celebrate her 40th anniversary in L.A. by being featured in the Japanese American National Museum come October as well as a first-ever Hello Kitty Con. The insanely popular yet simple design has been a marketing success in America. It was revealed, however, that Hello Kitty is not in fact a cat, but a girl cartoon character who owns a cat named Charmmy Kitty. Now we know.
