Leader in the Fight Against Ebola in Sierra Leone has Caught the Virus
Dr. Sheik Umar Khan, 39, was leading the fight against one of the deadliest outbreaks of Ebola in history before contracting the disease himself. A respected doctor, Khan has treated more than 100 patients in Sierra Leone. He is currently being treated by Doctors Without Borders in a Kailahun isolation ward. Sierra Leone has reported 442 cases and 206 deaths since the outbreak in March. At least eight nurses have been infected with three resulting deaths at the same hospital where Khan was working.
