Maryland Governor Signs Pot Decriminalization Bill
Gov. Martin O'Malley signed a bill effective Oct. 1 that will decriminalize the possession of small amounts of marijuana. The reasoning behind the bill is that the Maryland police force will now be able to focus on more serious crimes/threats. The Maryland State's Attorneys Association is trying to get O'Malley to veto the bill, saying it was passed to quickly. They were pushing for amendments that would keep smoking pot in public a crime as well as having it on school property.
