Massive Mudslide Traps More Than 500 Campers in South California
More than 500 children and adults were trapped and then rescued from a massive mudslide in a Southern California church camp. Torrential rain and flood waters began a mudflow about 80 miles east of Los Angeles trapping middle and high school students in the Forest Home camp. Thousands were stranded in Forest Falls, which has a population of 2,000 people, and one person was found dead. Firefighters expect to be working in the area for the next three to four days.
