Meb Keflezighi Becomes First American to win Boston Marathon in 31 Years
Former Olympic medalist Meb Keflezighi became the first American to win the men's division of the Boston Marathon since 1983 after crossing the finish line with a time of 2:08:37. The time is a personal best for Keflezighi, and the second-fastest time by an American male at Boston. Keflezighi was born in Eritrea and arrived in the U.S. as a refugee when he was 12. He also won the New York City Marathon in 2009, and has a number of medals under his belt. Kenya led of all countries at the race with four runners in the top 10. The U.S. had three.
