Microsoft Cuts 18,000 Jobs, Mostly Ex-Nokia Employees
Microsoft chief Satya Nadella announced today that the company will layoff up to 18,000 people--nearly 70 percent of the jobs cut will affect ex-Nokia employees. Microsoft bought Nokia last spring, turning 25,000 Nokia employees into Microsoft employees. Now, 12,500 of this positions are being cut. Microsoft's only response was that they will add new "roles in certain other strategic areas."
