Missouri Lt. Gov. Kindler Calls for Grand Jury Review of Alleged Rape Case
Missouri Lt. Gov. Peter Kindler called for a grand jury review on Tuesday, October 16th of a controversial case of alleged rape in Maryville. The case dates back to January 2012 but has gained national attention through social media. Daisy Coleman, 14, decided to meet up with Matthew Barnett, 17, at his house when she was handed a "big glass of clear liquid." It was the last thing Coleman remembered before being found unconscious in Barnett's yard with her hair wet and frozen and her feet bare. Later investigation revealed Coleman was sexually assaulted. Barnett was arrested and charged for sexual assault but the charges were dropped two months later on the basis of insufficient evidence.
