Mystery Creature Found in Tuna Deemed as Tongue-Eating Parasite
Zoe Butler, a Nottingham mother, opened her can of tuna to find eyes staring back at her. Scientists have deemed the tiny creature to be a tongue-eating louse. Meanwhile, Twitters users are on the prowl for answers dubbing their search #tunagate. The National History Museum speculates that the louse is a Cymothoa exigua, a parasite that lives inside fish and attaches itself to its host's tongue. The can of tuna was bought from an Asda in Arnold, a suburb of Nottingham.
