Netherlands Creates World's First Solar Cycle Lane
The Netherlands Organization for Applied Scientific Research completed the world's first solar powered bike path in Amsterdam on Wednesday. Costing $4.4 million, the SolaRoad is around 100 meters long potentially producing enough electricity to power three houses. With non-slip glass, the path uses solar cells to generate electricity for powering the national grid. Future plans include using the energy to power street lights.
