North Carolina Legalizes Same-Sex Marriage
Same-sex marriages were legalized in North Carolina on Friday by a judge in Asheville. U.S. District Court Judge Max O. Cogburn, Jr., declared the 2012 ban on same-sex marriage by state voters unconstitutional. Marriage licenses began being distributed immediately to waiting couples. The first gay couple was married the following Monday morning in Charlotte.
