    The New York Rockefeller Center ice rink is open and ready for business. The rink opened on October 13th with Rangers hockey player Rod Gilbert having the honor of the first public skate. The Rockefeller Center's ice rink is New York's first and opens every year for skating traditions that date back to Christmas Day 1936.
