Recently Discovered Rocky Planet has Astronomers Stumped
Astronomers discovered yet another rocky planet that weighs nearly 17 times as much as Earth and is twice as big. The planet, dubbed Kepler-10c, has scientists stumped as its formation defies planet norms. Instead of requiring the normal gas envelope during formation, it seems the planet is solid composed primarily of rock, leaving astronomers challenged to explain how it formed. Located 560 light-years from Earth in the constellation Draco, the planet is too hot to sustain life.
