Robert Downey Jr. Blames Genetics for Son's Cocaine Addiction and Arrest
Actor Robert Downey Jr.'s son, Indio, was arrested last night for cocaine possession and released on $10,250 bail. In response to his son's arrest, Robert Downey Jr stated that Indio, 20, would have his family's full support and that "there's a genetic component" to his addiction. The actor dealt with drug addiction himself in the 80s and 90s until he got clean after a year in the California Substance Abuse Treatment Facility and State Prison. According to the National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence, the most reliable factor to someone's risk of becoming addicted is family history.
