Scientists Race Time to Save Rare Miami Corals
Coral Morphologic scientists are in a battle against time as they try to save as many of the rare thriving corals of a Miami River shipping channel that will be deepened this Saturday. Though coral reefs are generally protected throughout the Atlantic and Caribbean, these corals are in the way of an underwater excavation of the channel that is part of a government infrastructure project. Colin Foord and his company, Coral Morphologic, have until Saturday to transplant as many corals as they can from the channel to an artificial reef a short distance away.
