Sen. Tom Coburn will Leave Congress due to Cancer
Republican Sen. Tom Coburn of Oklahoma announced on Thursday that he will leave Congress at the end of the year because of his cancer. Coburn, 65, found out recently that his prostate cancer had returned, though he downplayed his health problems in a statement, saying he had never planned to serve more than two terms. The leading fiscal conservative has been serving in the Senate since he was first elected in 2004. Coburn was known for his efforts to weeding out wasteful government spending.
