South African Anti-Apartheid Activist and Author Nadine Gordimer Dies
Novelist and activist Nadine Gordimer, known for her passionate stories and speeches on the apartheid in South Africa, has died at age 90. Awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1991, Gordimer died at her Johannesburg home on Sunday evening with her family. Gordimer was committed to bettering the lives of people suffering from prejudice, disease, poverty and other wrongs.
