South Korean Captain Arrested for Fleeing Sinking Ferry
Lee Joon-seok was arrested after fleeing the sinking South Korea ferry, instead of carry out his duty of making sure passengers were safely off the vessel. Strong currents have slowed efforts to find the 268 people who are still missing. Currently, 28 people were found dead and 179 were rescued. Joon-seok and two other crew members face charges for "negligence of duty and violation of maritime law." The junior officer was at the helm when the ferry began capsized after the vessel took a sharp turn. Almost 350 people aboard the ferry were from Danwon High School in Ansan.
