Student sets Himself on Fire; Causes Standley Lake HS Evacuation
A student walked into the cafeteria of Standley Lake High School in Westminister, Colo. and set himself on fire causing injuries to himself and forcing an evacuation of the school. The student's identity has not yet been released, neither has the substance he used to light the fire. Cafeteria workers were able to quickly put the fire out with fire extinguishers, but the student still suffered severe injuries. The 16-year-old left a suicide note saying he had planned it for years and that "There was nothing that anyone could have done [to] 'save me.'" The note read, "To all my 'friends' thanks for all that you have done, you were such a kind and loving people." Students without cars were taken by bus to a local middle school where they were picked up by their parents.
