'Tonight' Show Amasses Online Following
The primary audience for the new "Tonight" show has changed. Though the first week's ratings have been impressive, an even larger online following has amassed 37 million views on Youtube from clips of the show, including the evolution of hip-hop dancing starring Mr. Fallon and Will Smith. Though the marketing potential is huge, the payout is not since Youtube clips do no display commercials. It is NBC's choice on whether or not to monetize the clips, and though they haven't chosen to yet: "If we want to monetize the clips in the future, it will be our choice." Currently, the clips are acting as a reminder for people to tune in.
