Two Killed in Omaha Plant Explosion, Recovery Efforts Still in Progress
A manufacturing plant owned by International Nutrition exploded in Omaha, Neb. on Tuesday killing two workers and leaving 10 others seriously injured. Rescuers, including 50 firefighters, are still trying to free people from the twisted metal and debris; 10 out of the 38 people who were still in the plant when it collapsed have been rescued and at least two people have died. The structure has yet to be cleared and a reason for the explosion has yet to be determined. It has been reported that International Nutrition had a dozen violations in 2012, including problems with wiring and safety equipment. No hazardous chemicals were in the plant and the investigation could take weeks.
