U.S. Advances with 2-1 win Over Ghana with John Brooks' Late Header
The United States kicked off the World Cup with a heart-stopping start when John Brooks provided the 86th-minute header to win 2-1 over Ghana on Monday. The U.S. was forced on the defensive for most of the game when the unlikely 21-year-old defender got his head on a Graham Zusi corner. Clint Dempsey fired on the goal after only 34 seconds; the fastest American goal in tournament history, while the victory will give America one of its best chances at progressing from Group G, one of the World Cup's most difficult.
