U.S. Math and Reading Scores Slowly on the Rise
The National Assessment of Educational Progress released data on Thursday, November 7th, that American fourth and eighth graders showed "incremental gains in reading and math this year." However, the gaps based on race and income still persist. Less than half of the nation's students are performing at a proficient level in either math or reading. One suggestion for improvement in regards to underprivileged students is to focus on financing preschool programs. Teachers are hoping that the implementation of the Common Core will only further advancement levels.
