U.S. Recaptures the World's Fastest Car with Venom GT
The Bugatti has been beaten. The Hennessey Venom GT set a new world speed for a two-seat sports car by hitting 270.49 mph, making it the fastest car in the world. The Venom GT broke the record by racing down the Kennedy Space Center Space Shuttle landing runway in Cape Canaveral, Fla. The driver of the car was Brian Smith, director of Miller Motorsports Park in Utah. The car was reported to have accelerated from 260 to 270 mph in just 10.1 seconds. The Guinness Book of Records has not yet recognized the Venom as "the fastest production car" because only 11 have been produced.
