Workers File Lawsuit Against Kum Gang San for Forced Farm Labor
Workers and bussers at Kum Gang San, a popular Korean restaurant in Manhattan, are filing a federal lawsuit against the management for being forced to work 18-hour shifts without overtime, attend church on Sundays and pick vegetables from a farm outside the city. Though more than 30 waiters originally wanted to participate, the numbers dwindled after it was also reported that refusing the owner's demands led to "humiliation, termination and threats of blacklisting and deportation."
